Footprints Of The Heart

A lame man walked, a blind man saw
a child comforted in His arms
the adulteress released,
a centurion bowed his knee
a mother willing to eat crumbs
falling at her feet
the religious rulers daughter raised
and Lazarus O Lazarus!
With grave clothes stinking!
thousands fed upon a hill,
water turned to wine
raging storms calmed to
"Peace be still"
demons fled at the sound of His name
the withered hand made whole
the woman at the well
the fig tree on the trail
then she who against the crowd,
pressed in and touched His hem!
then came the Garden of Gesethamane
the Via Dolorosa
Golgotha, the place of the skull
the Cross "It is finished"
three nights and days,
a stone that was rolled away
mankinds sins forgiven.
all walks of life, all stations will one day
stand before that empty tomb
looking for footprints in the garden soil
that lead to resurrected power.
will they recognize a soft imprint
of the Masters feet
or see instead the soldiers guided
gait that leads to doctrines of unbelief?
Jesus, the same
yesterday, today and forever
footprints in the heart of man.
