Piercing The Blackness

Piercing the blackness,
a sudden, unexpected spark;
like a twinkling star-a
firefly lighting up the dark.
Then across the heavens,
a thunderclap announcing in the sky,
a bold lightning flash-
Our Creator's illuminating reply.

Like movie film, fix indelibly on my mind,
this symbolic image, in the future, to rewind.
For, in the darkness, it is so easy to erase,
elusive memories of light-leaving not a trace.

Help me, dear Lord, to recall Your creative Presence everywhere-
from the smallest firefly, to the most incredible fanfare;
When a mere spark, or a great flash of light from Your Spirit we see ,
recapture these magical moments as expressions of Your majesty!

In the future, when blackness
threatens to CONSUME;
when the accompanying
fears begin to LOOM;
when all of our life seems
overwhelmed with GLOOM;
and all we can foresee
is unending DOOM-

As a rainbow reminds me
of Your faithful promises to see,
so this celestial parable-a gift
of nature to me!
Thank You for this vivid
light display that plainly testifies,
of Your turning my darkness
into light right before my very eyes.

Recollect this memory in
the sinister night,
nature's painted portrayal
of Your magnificent light!
Lord, our Light of Life,
Shining Bright and Morning Star;
illuminate the darkness,
send enlightenment from afar!
